Re: People Keeping Stealing The Taps off our Tapstands

Hello Anil, You have the right idea with that picture at the top. That's a ball valve and it sure looks like it is a threaded one and threaded to the pipe. Anything threaded can be easily stolen no matter if the pipe is secured into the wall by concrete or a pipe hanger/strap or not. If you use a ba...

Re: People Keeping Stealing The Taps off our Tapstands

The only tapstand Tap I have seen is a fairly elaborate looking divice that looks overly complicated for what needs to be accomplished and is it really needed ? It sure looks like a costly device too! It appears as though all you want to do is have a valve to open and close that supplies water, but ...

Re: Cleaning Product for Scale Build Up in PVC Water Network

Use Acids if you wish...It's costly, hazardous, time consuming and has it's share of additional troubles to deal with.

I still haven't heard back anything on this original question. Maybe they have solved it already?

Re: Cleaning Product for Scale Build Up in PVC Water Network

Good day Zimba, I would suggest that we communicate via private email to see if we can sort this out for you. If we come up with the right answers and it works to get rid and control that scale, we can then provide the details here for the benefit of everyone. When you write back to me, please provi...

Re: Leak Detection Help

Good day Carl, The quickest way is to look for a bubbling spring in the middle of the road where there wasn't one before. I am just kidding of course! But in some cases that is what happens. Although this is not my area, there are detection systems on the market. I can try and get some info and meth...

Re: Non Hydraulic Pipe Cleaning Methods for Biofilm in Pump Main

Good day Jengir, Sounds like you may have to employ a high pressure water jetting flush of all mains and branch lines to clear the immediate buildup. As you have observed, it would be wise to employ the chlorine injection at the point of raw water pick-up to the system. I am positive that by employi...

Re: Cleaning Product for Scale Build Up in PVC Water Network

Good day Zimba, You haven't given any detail to your project. Residential/Potable water, commercial/industrial use, etc.. Contact Mr. Simon Vaughan at the link here and he should be of great help to you with that scale elimination without using acids. Simon Vaughan(simon@vil.uk.com) If there is any ...

Re: Modelling a Break Pressure Tank with EPANET

Sebastian, Just to add a little to Happy Plumbers comments...... Your terminology confused me for a bit. I am in North America and you must be using that silly British terminology. That was a joke of course. I am an ex Brit! Not knowing all the details, I will explain the best I can. It appears you ...

Re: SODIS and Cancer from DEHA and DEHP Leaching?

Conducting a 17 hour study really doesn't show the true situation, particularly so if the bottles are new! If it hasn't been done, then a more accurate test is as follows. Leave samples of the plastics outdoors (24 hrs a day) in the sun for 60 to 90 days. Then conduct the tests! What comes to mind i...
