WASH Specialist – Emergency Response

Handicap International is an independent and impartial international aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Handicap International is a not-for-profit organisation with no religious or political affiliation. It operates as a Federation made up of a network of associations (Germany, Belgium, Canada, France, Luxemburg, Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA) that provide it with human and financial resources, manage its projects and implement its actions and social mission.

Background:
Following the reorganisation and enlargement of the Emergency Response Division the new post, Technical Specialist WASH, has been created to manage and coordinate all emergence response WaSH activities.

The new post is based in Lyon, France, at Handicap International’s head office. It sits within a team of 6 and in turn forms part of the Emergency Response Division which has a total of twenty office based staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Management and coordination of all WaSH programmes within the emergency response division
Provide specialist WaSH technical support and advice to the emergency response division Provide support and advice to the director, programme/project managers and field based teams on all WaSH related activities
Develop WaSH strategies, documents and best practices for the emergency response division
Compile monthly reports, program/project documents

Profile
Degree in civil engineering or related fields
Significant experience in emergency response action
Previous humanitarian project management experience
Minimum 5+ years WaSH field based work experience
Ability to react and mobilise quickly within an emergence situation
Languages : English and French (written and spoken)

Salary : Between 2200 et 2500 euros per month depending on experience. + excellent benefits
