BioGas in Cold Climates

Postby SammyJ » 06 Mar 2010 08:17

I'm working on an unsolicited proposal in Azerbaijan trying to come up with a sensible option for medium size (up to 1,000 students) rural schools where there are no existing sewer networks. These schools currently use small wood stoves to heat the classrooms in the winter months (with obvious indoor air quality problems as a result of smoke and carbon monixide). I was thinking about the feasibility of converting the winter heating to run off biogas stored during the year and then used to heat the classrooms in the winter months. Any tables, formula or technical documentation on the viability of biogas prodution in cold climates would be appreciated.

DEWATS have produced a manual that includes BioGas units.

I don't recall if there was any guidance for cold climates but the design manual is quite extensive.

we are the company that has a solution for cold climate biogas systems. we have small biogas units manufacturing facility in Azerbaijan. we have installed several biogas systems in Guba and Gakh regions (North of Azerbaijan). Our 5m3 units produce from 6 to 10m3 of biogas in a day (depending of digestion processes and system preferences). if interested in our systems pls visit our website at alten-group.com or email me at kamal_shabanov@alten-group.com
